Built in 1860!!
Welcome to Greenville Utah.. ever been? I hadn't either. This tiny little town sits just out side of Beaver. This is where my Grandpa Bonzo was born and spent the first few years of his life. The house was built in 1860. They moved to this house in 1915. 6 of the 9 kids were born there.. Alene, Howard, Bob, Jack, *David* (born in 1920), and Kenny. The last 3, Max, Doug, and Pat were born in Cedar after moving in 1929. The house had one bedroom, and living room and kitchen that were connected. The outhouse was outback. Grandpa told me a story of a time when Alene and Howard were fighting to blow out the oil lamp when it tipped over and started the house on fire, they used buckets to get water from the creek out back and relayed them to the house to put out the flames. When grandpa was four years old he was diagnosed with pneumonia, they had to cut him open and remove half a rib in order to place tubs into his lungs to drain the fluid, what a tough little guy! We were extremely lucky to see this house still standing, and all the stories that came along with it. The man who bought the property and house built a log cabin that him and his wife live in to the west and they use this little house for guests and grand kids. A lot of the things in the house were left behind, and he kept most of it original, including the floor... which was pretty awesome! Back then, they used can lids to place over the knots in the floor to keep the mice out. The back half of the house is what he added on. The 6 trees out front are also still standing.
